Seasoned Speaker

The Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, began its 2010 Trial Advocacy & Mentoring Program for “newer” lawyers (those who have been practicing five years or less) on Thursday, Feb. 4, at the Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse in Detroit. The program, which continued Feb. 8-9, provided attendees an opportunity to obtain hands-on experience in fundamental litigation skills, working in tandem with judges and seasoned attorneys who offered valuable guidance on direct and cross examination, opening statements, and closing arguments.  Among those welcoming the “newer” lawyers on the first day was Thomas Cranmer, principal and managing director of Miller, Canfield, Paddock, & Stone PLC in Troy. The 2010 Mentoring Program focused on a civil case from openings through the presentation of witness testimony and concluding with final arguments. Photo by John Meiu.
