Wayne Law to honor alumnus, faculty member at SBM meeting
Wayne State University Law School will host its yearly Alumni Reception at the State Bar of Michigan Annual Meeting at 4:30-6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 30 at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids.

This year’s reception will honor Wayne Law alumnus and 2010 State Bar of Michigan award recipient Edward Zelenak,’77, who is a recipient of the Frank J. Kelley Award, as well as Wayne Law Professor Katherine White, who will be recognized as the Law School’s 2010 recipient of the Donald H. Gordon Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Alumni, faculty and friends are invited to join Wayne Law Dean Robert M. Ackerman at the event, as the reception also will provide an opportunity for attendees to network and reconnect with fellow colleagues.

“I am thrilled to be honoring Mr. Zelenak and Professor White at this year’s reception,” said Wayne Law Dean Robert M. Ackerman. “I look forward to celebrating in Grand Rapids with Wayne Law alumni and friends.”

The Wayne Law State Bar Reception will be immediately followed by a Wayne Law Alumni Association happy hour event at 6-8 p.m. in Gilly’s Restaurant (first floor of the B.O.B.).

FBA holds annual State of the Court luncheon
The Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, will hold its annual State of the Court Luncheon on Tuesday, September 15 at 11:30 a.m. at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel, in the Venetian Ballroom. 

The program will feature Chief Judge Gerald E. Rosen's State of the Court address, plus presentations from the leaders of several of the Federal District Court's Divisions.  In addition, the court will honor attorneys who have provided pro bono service to the Eastern District during the past year.

Judge Warren to speak at Hoffman Farms
Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Michael Warren will join Hoffman Farms on Sunday, Sept. 12, to celebrate the patriotic values of our founders.  The celebration is scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. at 2521 Rose Center Road in Highland Township.   Admission is free and open to the public.

Warren will be a featured speaker at the event.  “We are very excited about this unique opportunity to host a Patriot Week event at the historic landmark of Hoffman Farms,” said Warren.  “It is an ideal setting to reflect upon and celebrate our founding First Principles in our Declaration of Independence and the sacrifices our Founding Fathers and succeeding generations have undertaken.”
