The Wayne County Probate Court will be closed Monday, May 30 in observance of Memorial Day and will reopen on Tuesday, May 31 at 8 a.m.
The Third Circuit Court Civil, Criminal and Family Divisions will be closed on Monday, May 30 in observance of Memorial Day.
The 36th District Court will be closed to the public on Monday, May 30 in observance of Memorial Day. 

Quick elected to OCBA Board of Directors

Daniel D. Quick, a member at Dickinson Wright PLLC, was elected to a three-year term on the Oakland County Bar Association Board of Directors. His term will end June 30, 2014.
“I am so proud to be elected to the Board of the OCBA,” said Quick. “I have been very active in the OCBA over the years, and now will be able to make even more of a difference. It is a great organization and one of the best parts about being a lawyer in this community.”
Quick specializes in commercial and intellectual property litigation. He received his B.A. and J.D. from the University of Michigan. He is co-chair of the copyright litigation subcommittee of the American Bar Association.

Miller Canfield expands India team with addition of lawyer
The law firm of Miller Canfield has further expanded its India Team with the addition of corporate lawyer Amita Gopinath. She joins the firm in the New York City office as an associate in the Corporate Group. Licensed in both India and New York, Gopinath handles a wide range of cross-border corporate and capital market transactions.
 “Amita’s unique experience in both the US and India further expands the firm’s global reach and ability to counsel clients in cross-border transactions and financings,” said Richard A. Walawender, director of the firm’s Corporate Group.
 Prior to joining Miller Canfield, Gopinath was an associate in the India capital markets practice of Linklaters LLP. She represented Indian and Singaporean underwriters and corporations in international securities offerings, including initial public offerings, convertible bonds, Indian depository receipts and qualified institutions placements. Previously she was a banking and finance associate in the New Delhi office of one of India’s largest law firms. She also clerked for the Honorable Justice K. G. Balakrishnan, Former Chief Justice of India. She received her LL.M. from Columbia Law School and her B.A.-LL.B. from National Law School of India University. She speaks Hindi and Malayalam.
