Thirty-two high school students from twenty-two schools in and around the City of Detroit participated in the second annual Just the Beginning Foundation Summer Legal Institute. The week-long pipeline program is designed to provide high school students who aspire to become lawyers with an introduction to the rule of law and the legal profession. It is presented by the Chicago-based Just the Beginning Foundation (www.jtbf.org), in partnership with Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Oakland University, Walmart, the Federal Bar Association for the Eastern District of Michigan, Dickinson Wright, Miller Canfield, and Kaplan Test Prep Services. The facilities have been provided by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and the program has received generous financial support from the Association of Corporate Counsel-Michigan; Collins, Einhorn, Farrell, and Ulanoff; Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association; Honigman; Latin American Bar Activities Section of the State Bar of Michigan; Plunkett Cooney; Warner, Norcross, and Judd; and the Young Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Michigan.
