Orlans encourages vets to apply for Homes4WoundedHeroes Program

Mortgage-free homes to be awarded

Orlans Associates, P.C., a Michigan law firm specializing in serving the real estate financial industry, is encouraging wounded veterans to apply for mortgage-free home ownership through the Homes4WoundedHeroes program. Orlans is a long supporter of the program through its membership in The National Firm, LLC, a consortium of law firms that serves as the advisor between financial institutions and Homes4WoundedHeroes. Through the consortium, Orlans supports the program, which connects veterans with available homes. These relationships, involving time and financial support, make it possible for wounded heroes to live in homes, helping to improve their quality of life.

The Homes4WoundedHeroes program is a Military Warriors Support Foundation national philanthropy initiative where bank-owned homes across the country are renovated and awarded to wounded heroes injured during the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. Through a well-developed mentoring program, selected families receive three years of family counseling and financial skills training, a program requirement seen as the key to its success. If families follow the program for three years, they receive the property deed, mortgage-free.

“I am proud to say that after awarding over 300 homes, our success rate of keeping our heroes in their homes has been nearly 100 percent,” said retired 3-star General Leroy Sisco, Military Warriors Support Foundation CEO. “We want to expand program participation and award 300 more homes this year alone.”

Homes available through the program are renovated to include all major appliances, neutral paint and new carpet, as needed. Availability is scattered throughout the United States. Since December of 2012, four homes have been awarded in Michigan from the cities of Shelby Township, Waterford, Milan and Ypsilanti. Interested veterans should visit the website, www.militarywarriors.org, where available homes are listed as well as the application and requirements for program enrollment.

“We are proud to support this organization, and thank our wounded veterans for the sacrifices they have made to uphold our freedom,” said Orlans Associates CEO Linda Orlans. “We want to see more Michigan veterans take advantage of this opportunity to obtain a home for their families — this is a charitable model for change that has proven to be extremely effective.”

In addition to Orlans Associates’ role in supporting Home4WoundedHeroes, Orlans-owned eTitle Agency provides title and closing services to help streamline and administrate the closing process for the organization and the veterans.
