Fifth Annual Tertzag Tribute Dinner Feb. 27

The friends and family of the Honorable Kaye Tertzag will host the Fifth Annual Tertzag Tribute Dinner on Thursday, Feb 27, at the Park Place Banquet Hall in Dearborn from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m.

The 2014 recipient of the Purple Sport Coat Award is attorney Anthony S. Guerriero.  Michigan Supreme Court Justice Bridget McCormack, last year’s recipient, will present the award. Guerriero has served as a prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, civil litigator, mediator, arbitrator, receiver, magistrate, and judge.

Debbie Dingell will be the keynote speaker. She recently completed a more than 30-year career at General Motors as a senior executive, where she was the president of the GM Foundation and headed public affairs. She is also a national Democratic strategist, and a member of the Democratic National Committee.

Tickets are $40 and include dinner and an open bar. Attendees are encouraged to wear purple to the event. Those wearing purple will be entered into a drawing for a door prize. Wayne County Clerk to issue Detroit birth and death certificates

In an effort to better serve the public, Wayne County Clerk Cathy M. Garrett will begin issuing Detroit birth and death certificates on JANUARY 27, 2014.

The temporary delay in service is due to the information and technology transition.

Through this partnership with the City of Detroit, Wayne County residents will greatly benefit from this newly added convenience.         

Detroit birth and death records can be obtained at 640 Temple Street – Suite 625; Detroit, MI 48201 with same-day service beginning on Jan. 27. Hours of operation will be Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Parking for all patrons is free.

Individuals can send City of Detroit mail requests to the Wayne County Clerk's Office: The Office of the Wayne County Clerk – City of Detroit Vitals; 640 Temple Street – Suite 625; Detroit, MI 48201;
All mail requests must be sent in letter form, and include the signature, return address, and phone number of the individual requesting a record.

A photo-copy of the requestor’s I.D. must be included with all birth record requests.

Payment must be included (via money order to The Wayne County Clerk’s Office) for all requests, and it costs $22 for the first certified copy of a birth or death certificate, and $7 for any additional copies.
