Clothing needed for metro-area teen boys in foster care

On Jan. 13, foster children’s charity For The Seventh Generation (www.fortheseventhgeneration.org) put out a call for new or gently-used clothing for teen boys aged 12-19.
“Our Help Closet is well-stocked with items for younger children and for teen girls, but we’re very short of age-appropriate clothing for our boys in care,” explained FTSG’s Help Closet Coordinator Sherryl Ausbrooks.

“Michigan’s foster care system gives foster parents less than $250 a year to buy clothing for the teens in their care,” added FTSG Executive Director Lorraine Weber. “Anyone who has
raised a teenage boy knows that’s not enough to keep pace with his growth spurts – let alone enough to purchase clothes that will allow him to fit in with his peers.”

For The Seventh Generation issued the request for clothing for teen boys as part of its Weekly Wish List program. Each week, the charity focuses on a specific need in a post on its Facebook page (www.facebook.com/fortheseventhgeneration).

Individuals and organizations interested in collecting or donating new/gently-used, age-appropriate items for teen boys in foster care – including underwear, socks, shoes, and items for school and job interviews – are encouraged to email Sherryl Ausbrooks at: sra1225@sbcglobal.net
