World IP Day event planned for April 20
The Detroit area celebration of World Intellectual Property Day will take place on Wednesday, April 20, from 5-8:30 p.m. at the Lawrence Technological University, 21000 W. 10 Mile Rd. in Southfield. The event is free and the public is welcome.
This year’s theme is “Digital Creativity: Innovation in a Digital Age.” The event plans to discuss entrepreneurship and protection of intellectual property in today’s electronic, digital, and creative culture. Topics discussed will include licensing, open source software, 3D printing, and more. The program will include a keynote speaker, breakout sessions, and a panel discussion.

• Courtland W. Anderson of Bodman PLC.
• Joe Carr, entrepreneur, digital manufacturing consultant at LEAP Inc. and technology specialist at the East Lansing Public Library.

Registration open for Wayne Law Golf Outing
Registration is open and sponsorship opportunities are available for the 2016 Wayne Law Golf Outing, set for Monday, June 6, at the Country Club of Detroit.
The outing brings together alumni and friends of Wayne State University Law School for a day of golf and to fund an endowed student scholarship.
Country Club of Detroit is at 220 Country Club Drive in Grosse Pointe Farms. Check-in on the day of the scramble-format event for foursomes is set for 11 a.m., followed by lunch at noon and a 1 p.m. shotgun start. A cocktail reception and dinner will follow play, as will presentations of golfer awards and a scholarship award.

Registration open for ‘Walk for Justice’ at the Detroit Zoo April 23
 Registration is now open for The Salvation Army William Booth Legal Aid Clinic’s third annual Walk for Justice at the Detroit Zoo on Saturday, April 23 starting at 8 a.m.
Tickets are $40 and available at www.walkforjustice.org. Law students can register for $20 and children, up to 16 years old, are admitted for free. The registration fee includes zoo admission, parking, a Walk for Justice t-shirt, refreshments and entry into a door prize drawing. 
Guests will enjoy face painting, a magician, clowns and games for children, as well as have the opportunity to bid in a silent auction featuring items donated by local businesses.
All proceeds benefit The Salvation Army’s William Booth Legal Aid Clinic.
