Photo 1: The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan conducted a scholarship presentation to honor recipients of the Annual Ralph M. Freeman Foundation Law School and College Scholarships on Monday, May 9, at the Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse in Detroit.?U.S. District Court Chief Judge Denise Page Hood (center) presented scholarships to (l-r) Philip Kern, Hanna Treppa, Jalen Thomas, Eric Yff, Kristin Giommi, Mike Fannon, Asha McElroy, and Morgan Harrison. Ralph M. Freeman was a U.S. District judge for the Eastern District for more than 35 years. The law school scholarships continue Freeman’s legacy of justice, advocacy, and civility. The $1,000 scholarships are granted to a law student at the five Michigan law schools. The Freeman Foundation also awards four college scholarships to students of full-time permanent employees of the District Court, Bankruptcy Court, Probation Department, and Pretrial Services Agency.
