Assistant Professor Edward Fox joins Michigan Law School


Professor Edward Fox has joined Michigan Law School as an assistant professor of law. He previously was a fellow at the Center for Law and Economics at New York University School of Law. He will teach Taxation of Individual Income and a Tax Policy seminar.

Fox’s research interests include personal and business taxation and corporate and securities law. His work has been published in the Columbia Law Review, the Texas Law Review, and the Yale Law Journal. His current working papers empirically study the effect of taxation on marriage, the incidence of the U.S. corporate income tax, and how Delaware incorporation may affect the value of firms with controlling shareholders, among other subjects.

Fox earned his BA in history and economics, magna cum laude, from Columbia University, his JD from Yale Law School, and his PhD in economics from the University of Michigan.
He previously clerked for The Hon. Stephen Reinhardt on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

 

Wayne County Criminal Advocacy Program to start seminars Sept. 7
 

The first seminar for the 2018-2019 season of the Wayne County Criminal Advocacy Program will be held Sept. 7 at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, 13th floor auditorium, from 1:30 to 3:30.

The topics are the new Local Administrative Order regarding the training/practice requirements for assignments in the Third Circuit Court, presented by Presiding Judge Timothy Kenny, and the new practice standards under the Michigan Indigent Defense Commission, presented by Loren Khogali of the MIDC. The pending changes in the requirements for qualifications to accept indigent defense assignments in the Third Circuit Court will affect the way attorneys practice in the Wayne County court system.
