Miller Canfield opens D.C. office

Miller Canfield announced Tuesday the opening of an office in Washington, D.C., and the addition of three attorneys—principals Pawel Chudzicki and W?adek Rzycki, and senior attorney Lana Yaghi.

Chudzicki, Rzycki and Yaghi, who join Miller Canfield from the global firm of K&L Gates, bringing strength to the firm’s growing international practice team. The three attorneys also help enhance the firm’s services for international clients. 

The expanded international full-service capabilities include international dispute resolution and arbitration, cross-border transactions capabilities and a robust export controls/International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) practice.

Chudzicki, Rzycki and Yaghi have focused on representing U.S. clients in the defense, offset and cybersecurity sectors engaged in business in Poland and Qatar, two strong allies of the United States and important markets for the U.S. manufacturing and service sectors. Additionally, they work in close cooperation with former U.S. Secretary of the Army John McHugh on matters related to defense policy and procurement.

Chudzicki's practice has concentrated on cross-border business and transactions, working in Washington, D.C.; Warsaw, Poland; and Doha, Qatar, with clients in industries that include defense, aviation and aerospace, banking, transportation, telecommunication, media, manufacturing and cybersecurity. He has considerable experience in building and integrating law firm practices. Chudzicki advises companies in connection with complex global strategic matters. He is licensed in Illinois and the District of Columbia.

Rzycki's practice centers on corporate matters and transactions, joint ventures, regulatory matters, large-scale public procurement, and privatizations in the U.S. and Poland. Working from our Poland and Chicago locations, he will work with multinational clients, private equity funds, public-sector clients, and inbound and outbound investors. Over the past 17 years, Rzycki built the leading defense and offset practice in Poland, representing foreign defense contractors active in the Polish market in procurement, regulatory and compliance matters. To date, he has represented eight offset programs in Poland, negotiating and supervising technology transfers and industrialization programs. He is licensed in Illinois and New York.

Yaghi's practice focuses on corporate matters in industries that include defense, manufacturing, banking, aviation, telecommunications and cybersecurity. Fluent in Arabic, Yaghi has worked extensively in Qatar, representing and advising conglomerates and multinational businesses in cross-border matters. Licensed in the District of Columbia and New York, Yaghi will work primarily in Miller Canfield’s Washington, D.C. and New York offices.
