Christensen Law’s ‘Safe Ride Home’ returns for Thanksgiving Eve

Christensen Law will continue its mission of preventing drunk driving in metro Detroit by bringing back “Safe Ride Home” for Thanksgiving Eve. This program reimburses individuals for rides home on holidays with high drunk driving fatalities.

The evening before Thanksgiving, also known as “Blackout Wednesday,” is known as one of the most dangerous driving nights of the year. Christensen Law encourages people not to drive drunk by offering to pay for their cab, Lyft, or Uber.

The firm is honored to have the support and endorsement of Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard and Genesee County Sheriff Robert J. Pickell. Bouchard and Pickell both supported this program last year.

“Drunk driving can be a costly, deadly mistake,” said Bouchard. “Don’t allow Thanksgiving to turn into a tragedy.  I encourage all metro Detroit residents to be safe and take advantage of Safe Ride Home if you plan on drinking Thanksgiving Eve.”

“We are always happy to support efforts to reduce drinking and driving to protect our citizens in Genesee County,” said Pickell.

Since launching in 2015, Safe Ride home has helped more than 2,000 people in metro Detroit get home safe on some of the most dangerous holidays of the year. David Christensen, the firm’s founder, has seen first-hand how devastating a drunk driving incident can be during his time serving families as a personal injury lawyer.

“Last year, we helped 1,000 people get home safely,” said Christensen. “We’re so glad that our program is making a difference in people’s lives.”
