ABA launches a new mobile app for critical medical information

The American Bar Association, in cooperation with Mind Your Loved Ones, Inc., is launching a new mobile app that stores and manages critical medical information, including health care advance directives, on an individual’s smartphone. The app can also be used to store information of loved ones, such as elderly parents.

The app is called “Mind Your Loved Ones,” or MYLO, and is available for download for $9.99 per year.

“When you’re asked about your own or a loved one’s medications, advance directives, medical history, insurance information, physician contacts, allergies, or other medical notes, how often do you have any of that information at your fingertips? Probably seldom, if ever,” said Judy Perry Martinez, president of the ABA. “MYLO makes it possible to have that pertinent medical information immediately accessible no matter where you are.”

The app also allows users to view, print, fax or email information stored on it, including advance care directives.

“The app was created because one of the biggest problems we all experience in making decisions for loved ones is that information is not in our hands when needed — at the right time and at the right place,” said Charlie Sabatino, director of the Commission on Law and Aging.  “This smartphone app helps solve that problem.”
