‘Update on the State of Juvenile Law’ provided in webinar October 14


The Oakland County Bar Association will present “Update on the State of Juvenile Law” as an online webinar on Thursday, October 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This online course offers a review of developments in juvenile law, including new legislation, court rules, and case law from the past year.  Speaking at the program will be H. Elliot Parnes of H. Elliot Parnes PLLC.

Credit has been approved with the OCBA for 1.50 Criminal credits and 1.50 Juvenile credits.

Cost is $12 for OCBA members pre-registration and $25 for non-members pre-registration. Oakland County MIDC court appointed attorneys can attend for free.

Applications being accepted for appeals court vacancy
 

Applications are now being accepted for a seat on the Michigan Court of Appeals, 2nd District.  Judge Jonathan Tukel passed away in September leaving a vacancy on the bench.

To be considered for this position, applicants must be a State Bar of Michigan member who meet the legal qualifications for this office. Applicants should be aware that to be appointed they must reside within the judicial district.

Judicial appointment questionnaire, writing samples, resume, and supplemental documents must be submitted using the online portal at www.michigan.gov/appointments and received by 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 28. Additional letters of recommendation can still be submitted after your initial submission to judicialappointments @michigan.gov.

Levin Center, U of M present online panel discussion on ‘Domestic Terrorism’
 

The Levin Center at Wayne State University Law School will present a virtual panel discussion on “Domestic Terrorism: How Oversight is Part of Addressing a Rising Threat.” 

The webinar, co-hosted by the Levin Center at Wayne Law and University of Michigan’s Ford School, will take place Tuesday, October 19, from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. via Zoom.
