Peter M. Kulas-Dominguez, an attorney with Warner Norcross + Judd LLP, has been elected as chair of the State Bar of Michigan Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender-Questioning-Allies Section.

During his one-year term, Kulas-Dominguez will lead the LGBTQA section, preside over council meetings, ensure programing is ready for the section’s annual meeting and work with other attorneys to review laws, cases, regulations and other legal matters that affect LGBTQA individuals in the state.

Kulas-Dominguez served as chair-elect of the section from 2018 to 2019 and has served on the council for the section since its inception in 2017. The section’s mission is to review law, cases, regulations and other legal matters that affect LGBTQA members of the state and to promote the fair and just administration of those laws.

Kulas-Dominguez concentrates his practice on family law litigation, including divorce, LGBT family issues, domestic relations mediation, spousal support, child custody and support, abuse and neglect matters, complex business valuations, pre- and post-nuptial agreements and adoptions.

He was one of three individuals selected for the 3 in 10 Award in 2018 by the Grand Rapids Bar Association and has been named to the 2018 and 2019 Michigan Super Lawyers Rising Star lists. He is also a member of the Continuing Legal Education’s Family Law Advisory Board.

Kulas-Dominguez has done pro bono work for several regional organizations, including assisting victims of domestic violence with legal counsel at the YWCA West Central Michigan and assisting with community relations events for McKenzie’s Animal Shelter.
