Firm gives back with legal aid clinic

As part of the Michigan Association for Justice's (MAJ) Helmet Safety Campaign, the law firm of Goodwin & Scieszka hosted its free "Law Day" legal aid clinic Saturday, May 22, at its offices in Birmingham. Ready to welcome the public to the 24th annual event were (left to right) James Scieszka and Scott Goodwin.

"We've got over 30 attorneys who have donated their time today," noted Goodwin.  "We've got 500 free bicycle helmets that we're having expertly fitted for the youngsters."

Each year since 1999 MAJ members pledge funds to be used for purchasing bike helmets. MAJ then organizes a series of helmet fitting events around the state. In addition to the free helmets and legal aid clinic, Goodwin & Scieszka's "Law Day" event featured free hot dogs and pizza and PAWS, the official mascot of the Detroit Tigers who gave away Tigers tickets.

"It's just another event to give back to the community," said Goodwin.
