Lawyer trust accounts focus of SBM seminar
The State Bar of Michigan will present "Lawyer Trust Accounts: Management Principles and Recordkeeping Resources" from 1:30 to 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Michigan State University College of Law, Castle Boardroom, Room 343, located at 368 Law College Building (also known as 368 S. Shaw Lane) in East Lansing.
The half-day seminar will feature presentations on how to ethically manage lawyer trust accounts and effectively use forms, checklists, and guidelines to perform recordkeeping responsibilities. The seminar, which is open to lawyers and their staff, provides an opportunity for lawyers to receive practical information and resources to help them understand how to comply with Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.15 and 1.15A. Participants will also receive written materials prepared by the featured presenters: SBM Professional Standards Investigative Counsel Danon Goodrum-Garland, SBM Professional Standards Service Counsel Nkrumah Johnson-Wynn, Attorney Grievance Commission Senior Associate Counsel Rhonda Pozehl, and SBM Practice Management Advisor JoAnn Hathaway.
The registration fee is $50 for lawyers and $25 for non-lawyers. Payment and the completed registration form must be received by Friday, Sept. 30. No "walk-in" registrations will be accepted.
