Obama nominates Berg for U.S. court judgeship

DETROIT (AP) -- President Barack Obama has nominated a longtime Detroit federal prosecutor for a U.S. District Court judgeship. Obama announced the nomination of Terrence Berg to the Detroit-based court on Wednesday, calling him a "distinguished public servant." The nomination requires U.S. Senate confirmation. Berg became an assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan in 1989. He headed the Michigan attorney general's high tech crime unit in 1999-2003 and served as Detroit's interim U.S. attorney in 2008-2010.
