DHS update provided by Corrigan

The Juvenile Law Committee of the Oakland County Bar Association continued its Fundamentals of Juvenile Law-Year VI brown bag lunch lecture series on Thursday, Aug. 9, at the Oakland County Bar Center in Bloomfield Hills.

Providing “DHS Updates” was Michigan Department of Human Services Director Maura Corrigan (pictured).

The Department of Human Services (DHS) is Michigan’s public assistance, child, and family welfare agency. DHS directs the operations of public assistance and service programs through a network of more than 100 county offices around the state.

Gov. Rick Snyder named Corrigan director of the DHS on Jan. 6, 2011.  Corrigan previously served as a judge of the Michigan Court of Appeals and justice of the Michigan Supreme Court.  She served on the Michigan Supreme Court beginning in 1999, including four years from 2001 to 2005 as chief justice.
