During the ceremony in which several adoptions were finalized, attorney Abbie A. Shuman (far left) was presented with the first ever “Sandra Silver Advocated for Children Award†for her dedication and work representing parents and children. In addition, the “Arthur Eugene More Champion of Children Award†was presented to (left to right) Martin Alvin of Oakland County Probate Court, Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Cheryl Matthews, Juvenile Court Referee Scott Hamilton, Oakland County Circuit Court Family Division; and Oakland County Probate Court Judge Linda Hallmark whose contributions have had a significant and positive influence on the lives of Oakland County children.
Michigan Supreme Court Justice Brian Zahra (center) was pleased to attend the Oakland County Adoption Day events and to present Judge Pezzetti (left) and Chief Judge Nanci Grant (right) with a framed copy of the Supreme Court’s 2012 Adoption Day Resolution. During her opening remarks for the ceremony, Grant noted that during the past year 1,538 adoptions from foster care have taken place in Michigan with 118 of them in Oakland County.

The Oakland County Circuit Court Family Division conducted its 2012 Adoption Day Award Ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 20, in the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Auditorium in Pontiac.
