Commissioners present honors

Members of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners recognized the 40th Anniversary of the George W. Kuhn Retention Treatment Basin at the Thursday, June 13, board meeting in the Commissioners’ Auditorium in Pontiac.  

The George W. Kuhn Retention Treatment Basin services the communities of Berkley, Birmingham, Clawson, Ferndale, Hazel Park, Huntington Woods, Madison Heights, Oak Park, Royal Oak, Pleasant Ridge, Southfield, Troy, Royal Oak Township, and the Village of Beverly Hills.

The Oakland County Board of Commissioners also honored Novi High School seniors Krithika Swaminathan and Akhil Nistala for winning the 2012-2013 Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement.  

These students were recognized as two of the nation’s top achievers in Advanced Placement courses in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The $2,000 scholarship award is given to one male and female student in each state.

Commissioner Kathy S. Crawford was happy to present the proclamations at the Thursday, June 13, board meeting in the Commissioners’ Auditorium in Pontiac.
