Large U.S. flag on display for holidays

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson has ordered a large American flag draped on the façade of the west wing of the Oakland County Circuit Court building in honor of those remembered during Labor Day and Patriot’s Day.

The flag is visible now and will remain up through the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorism attacks.

“Our workers, first responders, and men and women in the military have given their blood, sweat and tears to build and protect the greatest nation on earth,” Patterson said. “The flag is on display as a token of our appreciation for their sacrifices.”

The flag’s dimensions are 60 feet by 30 feet. It is resistant to high winds. Individuals may view this patriotic site by passing the Oakland County government campus on Telegraph Road.

Those who want to see it up close are welcome to park in one of the open lots near the Oakland County Circuit Court building located at 1200 N. Telegraph Road in Pontiac.

The flag was purchased from American Flag and Banner in Clawson with private funds in 2012.
