Jury convicts two men in killing of Detroit bouncer

DETROIT (AP) - A jury has convicted two men in the fatal shooting of an anti-crime advocate and bouncer at a popular Detroit nightclub. The Detroit News reports Carl Bruner and Michael Lawson were found guilty last Thursday in Wayne County court in the killing of 39-year-old Marcel Jackson at Club Pandemonium. Jackson was a member of the crime prevention community group Detroit 300. The newspaper reports Jackson had kicked a man out of the club for hitting a woman before the June 2012 shooting. The man returned with an accomplice and fired shots that hit Jackson in the back. He died at an area hospital. Bruner and Lawson were arrested after a two-year investigation. It's unclear how they were tied to the crime. Their sentencing is set for January. Published: Mon, Dec 08, 2014
