'Bridging the Detroit River' to be presented by MDTC

The Michigan Defense Trial Counsel and the Canadian Defence Lawyers will present “Bridging the Detroit River”?on Thursday, March 12, from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. followed by a post-meeting social at Caesars Windsor, 377 Riverside Drive East in Windsor (reminder: passport or enhanced drivers license required).

The Ambassador Bridge is the busiest land border crossing in North America. The movement of goods, people, and information across this border presents unique challenges and opportunities for lawyers from Michigan and Ontario.

Recognizing the value of cross-border networking and the exchange of legal strategies, MDTC and Canadian Defence Lawyers proudly present their first half day seminar geared towards civil defense lawyers and their clients in the Detroit/Windsor region. Featuring corporate counsel, judges, and seasoned practitioners from both sides of the border, this seminar also provides a unique opportunity to network and build valuable legal contacts across the river.

Attendees will learn:
—Tips from the judiciary on avoiding ethical pitfalls in civil litigation.
—Jurisdictional and conflict of law strategies for cross-border injury litigation.
—Insights from multi-national corporate counsel on claims management counsel retention.
—Enforcing foreign judgments in Ontario and Michigan.

Chairs for the event are David Campbell of Bowman and Brooke LLP in Bloomfield Hills and Adam Wydrzynski of Donaldson, Donaldson, Greenaway in Windsor.

Cost is $180.80 for MDTC members and $248.60 for non-members.  For additional information or to register online, visit www.mdtc.org and click on “events.”
