The Oakland County Bar Association’s Energy, Sustainability, & Environmental Law and Municipal Law Committees presented “Hydraulic Fracking in Michigan and Its Impact on Southeast Michigan” on Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Management Education Center in Troy. Taking part in the seminar were (left to right) Brian Considine of Dawda, Mann, Mulcahy, & Sadler PLC; Rochester Deputy City manager/Director of Economic and Community Development Nik Banda; Adam Wygant; Kyle Jones of FCA US LLC; Lawrence M. Elkus of Elkus Law PC; Phil Grashoff of Kotz, Sangster, Wysocki PC; Associate Petroleum Industries of Michigan Executive Director John Griffin; and Oakland County Water Resource Commissioner Jim Nash.  “This is a panel presentation on issues surrounding oil/gas exploration and drilling in southeast Michigan—primarily fracking which is a method of oil and gas production involving the introduction of chemicals into the shale and forcing the natural gas out.  And our panel today was composed of representatives of both industry and the regulated community as well as the regulators,” said Grashoff who moderated the panel.  “We had a very informative and thorough presentation on the issue and I think everybody who attended has a good sense of where this whole thing is going at the moment.”
