Credit union offers free educational seminar for first time home buyers

Genisys Credit Union, which provides services to anyone who lives or works in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, is committed to alleviating the confusion that first time home buyers may face by providing a free educational class covering all of the important topics associated with applying and receiving a mortgage.

This seminar will take place at the Pontiac Branch located at 44400 Woodward Avenue in Pontiac, on Saturday, August 15, at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend the First Time Home Buyers Seminar. Interested parties simply need to register by calling 248-322-9800 ext 3265.

Genisys Credit Union Mortgage Manager Steve Heinemann will be speaking on topics such as: down payment requirements, the different programs available to home buyers, the difference between an adjustable rate (ARM) and a fixed rate mortgage, and the advantages of buying a home over renting. He will also be able to answer any questions attendees may have regarding the mortgage process and will provide an opportunity for attendees to receive a free mortgage pre-approval.

"This seminar will be the best hour and thirty minutes you will ever spend," said Heinemann. "We will be covering what it takes to open the door to home ownership."
