Center announces the release of its 2016 training calendar

Oakland Mediation Center (OMC), Oakland County’s mediation and conflict resolution training facility, is excited to announce the 2016 trainings and professional development workshops calendar. OMC offers 40-Hour Civil and Domestic Mediation Trainings as well as Advanced Mediation Training to any individual who wishes to enhance their skills to help others resolve their disputes. Mediation training can enhance your current skill set and marketability, allow you to be eligible for the court list of approved mediators and improve your own communication and negotiating skills personally and professionally.

The State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) approved, 40-Hour Civil Mediation Training teaches participants the skills necessary to act as mediators in facilitating the resolution of civil disputes from the initial consultation to writing the mediation agreement. OMC offers new training schedule options for all working professionals. The schedule includes the standard 1- full day a week option along with an option for 1-full week or 10-half days. Details can be found at www.mediation-omc.org.

“OMC’s training participants spoke about scheduling and we listened,” said Bonnie Hanes, OMC executive director. “The new training schedule allows for more inclusion for all working professions.”

Tuesday, February 23, is the start of OMC’s Domestic Relations Mediation Training.  This interactive training is designed to teach participants the skills necessary to act as mediators in facilitating the resolution of divorce and custody issues. The training is approved by SCAO and includes the newly updated Domestic Violence Screening Training for mediators.

Class sizes are kept small for an intimate learning experience that allows for personalization, networking, deeper conversations and skill building. The training costs are economical with a discount available for early bird registration. Cost includes continental breakfast lunch, detailed mediation manual, jump-drive containing reproducible mediation forms, as well as a certificate of attendance. Those completing training at OMC become eligible for discounts on practical experience opportunities.

For additional information about these trainings and others,  contact the Oakland Mediation Center training department at 248-338-4280, ext. 216.
