Man gets 70-100 years in prison for slaying

DETROIT (AP) - A man could spend the rest of his life in prison for the slaying of his 24-year-old ex-girlfriend whose body was found in a trash container behind an abandoned Detroit house.

Maxwell Brack was sentenced Tuesday to 70 to 100 years in prison.

Kajavia Globe was reported missing Dec. 11 by her family. Her body was found three days later.

A surveillance camera recorded a man wearing a Halloween-style human skull mask as he withdrew cash from Globe's bank account at an ATM.

A jury convicted Brack in August of second-degree murder. He has denied any involvement, testifying during his trial that he had no reason to kill Globe.

Lashanda Globe said at Brack's sentencing that when her daughter "decided to say goodbye to Maxwell, he took her life."
