Two armed open-carry advocates get jail time

DEARBORN (AP) - Two men have been sentenced to jail or prison, months after they entered a Detroit-area police department with body armor and firearms.

James Baker posted a video, saying he and Brandon Vreeland had been illegally stopped in February and felt the need to protect themselves as they visited the Dearborn police station to file a complaint.

Baker, an Oakland County man, was sentenced to nine months in jail last Friday for carrying a concealed weapon. Vreeland, a Jackson resident, was sentenced to at least nine months in prison for an identical charge and other crimes.

Defense attorney Nicholas Somberg says the men were peaceful and broke no laws.
