'Lessons in Family Law' presented

The Oakland County Bar Association presented “Lessons in Family Law: When Client Counseling and Courtroom Advocacy Conflict” on Thursday, Sept. 20, at the OCBA offices in Bloomfield Hills. The program featured a panel of experts offering practice pointers for acting as both counselor and advocate when clients won’t take their attorney’s advice. Speaking at the program were (left to right) Mark Bank of Bank Rifkin PLLC; Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Lisa Langton, Family Division; and Keri Middleditch of Middleditch Law Firm PLLC. “We have picked out three specific areas to talk about tonight—one being distinguishing between the role as the attorney advocate and the role as the counselor, not just behind closed doors of our offices but also playing that role in the courtroom,” Bank said. “The second part of the presentation will have to do with motion practice and tidbits to enhance lawyers’ results, hopefully, in motion practice. And the last part covers some hot tips relative to trial preparation and courtroom presentation and organization.”
