Those attending Lakeshore Legal Aid’s Annual Event on October 18 were treated to a step back in time at the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant, the Detroit site where the Ford Model T was first produced. Now a museum, the Piquette Avenue Plant was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2006 and features exhibits that primarily focus on the beginning of the automobile industry in the U.S. The venue served as a fitting site for the Annual Event, which generates financial support for Lakeshore Legal Aid as it continues to expand its reach in metro Detroit.

According to CEO Ashley Lowe, Lakeshore’s mission includes exercising “all methods of legal advocacy, training and outreach to empower low-income people, provide access to the legal system, and preserve the dignity of clients.” Supporters were treated to an evening of live music by the jazz quartet Bare Assets, and full run of the three-story antique car museum. The event was “well attended by private firms, the judiciary, key stakeholders, and other committed supporters,” according to Lowe.
