Judge denies bail for woman in child porn case

DETROIT (AP) -- A judge has refused to set bail for a Michigan woman who is accused of arranging sexually explicit photos of her daughter for a paid Web site maintained by her boyfriend, a convicted sex offender.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Mona Majzoub says the allegations against the Monroe woman defy a parent's natural instinct to protect children.

The Associated Press is not naming the 45-year-old woman because that would identify her teen daughter.

Defense lawyer Richard Helfrick argued for the woman's release Wednesday, saying she was not a flight risk.

Prosecutors say the girl is approximately 15. The photography began when she was 8 years old. Her mom is charged with sexual exploitation. James Frazee is charged with production and possession of child pornography.
