Campus hosts mock trial finals

Thomas M. Cooley Law School recently conducted an Intraschool Mock Trial Competition including its four campuses. The finals took place Saturday, Feb. 26, at Cooley's Auburn Hills campus.

Helping to coordinate the day in Auburn Hills were Cooley Prof. Lisa Halushka, mock trial faculty advisor, and Joshua Wheelock, student coordinator of communication for the mock trial.

"It's a great competition because it gives our students the opportunity to compete in a real trial setting using the rules of evidence and tends to pit our more skilled litigators against each other," said Halushka.

"It's a dynamic trial experience for students to get involved with the trial procedure--the opening and closing statements, witness examination, and most importantly addressing the rules of evidence," noted Wheelock.

The competition is based on the federal rules of evidence.
