New charge against man awaiting May computer hacking trial

WATERFORD TOWNSHIP (AP) -- Prosecutors have charged an Oakland County man awaiting trial for hacking into his estranged wife's computer with unauthorized computer access.

The Oakland Press of Pontiac reports that 33-year-old Leon Walker was arraigned last Thursday in Waterford District Court.

Prosecutors claim the county technology worker attempted to get into a secure law enforcement database last year. Defense attorney Leon Weiss said Walker was trying to get information for a Freedom of Information Act request.

Walker was released on bond and faces an April 26 preliminary examination.

His trial on the earlier charge starts May 9. Prosecutors say he broke the law when he hacked into Clara Walker's computer to access her e-mails.

Leon Walker has said she gave him her password. The couple divorced in December.
