Bowl-a-thon raises more than $7,000 for OLHSA

Bowlers and sponsors struck out poverty at the 17th annual OLHSA South Bowl-a-thon on Sunday, May 1, in Ferndale by raising net proceeds of $7,383.33 towards assisting South Oakland County residents in need. OLHSA, a Community Action Agency, would like to thank "Strike Makers" sponsors Garden Fresh Salsa and OLHSA Board Member Richard Holmes, as well as the event venue Luxury Lanes, for their gracious support of this worthy cause.

All funds raised from the event will benefit the services and programs that OLHSA South provides to seniors, low-income residents, and persons with disabilities in South Oakland County. In the wake of federal funding uncertainty private donations from the community, like those brought in at the Bowl-a-thon, are more important now than ever before.

The event was lively in Luxury Lanes' newly renovated space as bowlers received prize giveaways, enjoyed complimentary pizza and beverages, and rocked out to glow bowling in the third game.

Donations to the OLHSA South Bowl-a-thon are still being collected. To donate, send checks to: OLHSA South, 345 E. Nine Mile Rd., Ferndale, 48220; or donate online by visiting and clicking "contribute."
