IABAM to host annual Winter Gala Dec. 3 at Detroit Athletic Club
The Italian American Bar Association of Michigan (IABAM) is hosting its annual Winter Gala at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3 at the Detroit Athletic Club, located at 241 Madison in Detroit. The Winter Gala will feature hors d’oeuvres, premium bar, dinner and dessert bar.

The event also will feature live music and entertainment. A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of scholarships and awards.

The ticket price is $100 per person or $1,000 for a table of ten. The ticket price for students is $50 per person. The event is black tie optional. Seating is limited.

DMBA to hold ‘Plan to Succeed’ workshop
The Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association will hold “Solos:  Plan to Succeed” business development workshop Nov. 19.

The workshop will help new and experienced solo lawyers and small firm practitioners start developing and implementing a plan for marketing and business development.

Participants will leave ready to take the first steps of their own plan, learning how to Identify your target market; choose your marketing tactics; and develop your marketing tools. This special workshop is being offered twice: in Detroit Nov. 17 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the SMART Detroit conference center in the Penobscot Building and in Southfield Nov. 19 from 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Sommers Schwartz law firm, 2000 Town Center, Ste. 900.

The workshop presenter is attorney Elizabeth Jolliffe of Your Benchmark Coach. Attendance at each session is limited to 15 registrants. DMBA members $15. Non-members $25.

UDM School of Law to hold anti-bullying symposium tonight
The University of Detroit Mercy School of Law announces an anti-bullying symposium to be held on Thursday, Nov. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the atrium of the School of Law located at 651 East Jefferson Avenue in downtown Detroit.

A question and answer session will follow the presentation.

There is no charge for this event, and it is open to the public.

Holiday hours
The Third Circuit Court Civil, Criminal and Family Divisions will be closed Thursday, Nov. 25 and Friday, Nov. 26 in observance of Thanksgiving. The court will reopen Monday, Nov. 29.

The Wayne County Clerk’s Office will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 25 and Friday, Nov. 26 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

All offices of the United States District Court and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 25-26, for the Thanksgiving holiday. In case of emergency, call (313) 234-5656.

The Michigan Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, and the State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) will be closed on Thursday and Friday Nov. 25-26, for the Thanksgiving holiday.
