DMBA hosts its first ‘Drink ’n Learn’ event Feb. 17 at Foran’s
The Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association (DMBA) will host its first “Drink ‘n Learn” on Thursday, Feb. 17, at 5:30 p.m. at Foran’s in Detroit. The new series will kick off with U.S. District Court Judge Stephen Murphy, Eastern District of Michigan, as its guest speaker. No admission charge for DMBA members; non-members pay just $5. SBM to present ‘Tips and Tools for a Successful Practice’ March 1
The State Bar of Michigan will present “Tips and Tools for a Successful Practice” from 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, at the State Bar’s Michael Franck Building in downtown Lansing.

The registration fee is $100 for lawyers who have been in practice for less than five years, and $125 for those who have been practicing law for five years or more. The registration fee includes a continental breakfast and buffet lunch. Payment and the registration form, which can be downloaded from the SBM website at www.michbar.org/tipstools.cfm, must be received by Tuesday, Feb. 25. No “walk-in” registrations will be accepted. Participants can register online, fax the registration form to SBM at (517) 346-6365, or mail it with a check or credit card payment to: Tips and Tools for a Successful Practice Seminar, State Bar of Michigan, ATTN: Finance Department, Michael Franck Building, 306 Townsend Street, Lansing, MI 48933-2012.

Holiday Hours
The Third Circuit Court Civil, Criminal and Family Division will be closed on Monday, Feb. 21, in observance of President’s Day.

The 36th District Court will be closed, except for felony arraignments, on Monday Feb. 21 in observance of President’s Day.
