Warm Reception

On Feb. 24, the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association Barristers served approximately 320 people who showed up at Fort Street Presbyterian Church seeking a hot meal, clothing, a haircut, a shower or maybe just a warm reprieve from the snow.

Among those involved in the volunteer effort were Danielle Beasley, Michelle Thomas, Jeffrey Kopp and Tamira Chapman from the DMBA Barristers board and Peter Leto and other members of the DMBA Law Students Section who manned the clothing room; Anne-Marie Welch, who worked on the food service line; Ronda Tate, who held a sock drive at her Lewis & Munday and raised $60 to benefit the Fort Street Church; Tamira Chapman, who donated clothes for the Fort Street clothing inventory; and Danielle Beasley, who displayed her piano skills and provided music for the guests.
