Harvard Law grad joins Butzel Long as an associate in Detroit

Brian E. McGinty has joined Butzel Long as an associate based in the firm’s Detroit office. He specializes in Corporate and Business Law Matters.
McGinty is a graduate of Harvard Law School. Prior to attending law school, McGinty attended and graduated from Dartmouth College. He spent a year studying at University College Cork in Cork, Ireland before matriculating at Dartmouth. In addition, he studied abroad for a trimester at Beijing Normal University in China and for a semester at the Queen’s University of Belfast in Northern Ireland, U.K.
McGinty has a working knowledge of Mandarin Chinese.



Honigman chairman named to Best Lawyers international board

David Foltyn, chairman and CEO of Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP, has been named to the Best Lawyers international board of advisors.  Involvement in this board is by invitation only and includes firm leaders from the world’s leading law firms and many of the general counsels of the Fortune 500 and Global 500 companies.

Foltyn counsels publicly- and privately-held businesses, boards of directors, and financial service firms in corporate mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, financial transactions, public offerings and private placements of securities and debt. 

Foltyn has been recognized in the last 16 editions of Best Lawyers in America.  He also has been recognized by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business since 2005 as a top-ranked lawyer in the Corporate/M&A field and named as one of the Top 100 in Michigan Super Lawyers for several years in a row.

In the community, Foltyn also is a member of the board of directors of the United Way of Southeastern Michigan, the Downtown Detroit Partnership and the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce.  He is a member of the board of governors of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, and a vice president of the board of trustees and a member of the executive committee of Temple Beth El in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and past chairman (2004 – 2006) of JVS.
Foltyn earned a J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.B.A., with high distinction, from the University of Michigan.
