Bowman and Brooke announces new leadership at firm

Thomas Branigan was re-elected to the Bowman and Brooke’s executive committee.  He will serve a three-year term, effective Feb. 1.
In addition, Lawrence Mann was elected to be the Managing Partner in Detroit and Jeffrey Gorcyca was elected to be Co-Managing Partner.  Each will serve a one-year term, beginning Feb. 1.

Gov. Snyder issues two executive orders for mental health

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Gov. Rick Snyder is taking steps aimed at improving mental health services in Michigan.
The Republican governor issued two executive orders Wednesday to bolster mental health initiatives in the state.
The first creates a Mental Health and Wellness Commission. The commission will be led by Lt. Gov. Brian Calley and will advise the Michigan Department of Community Health on ways to strengthen mental health services.
Snyder has also issued an order to create a Mental Health Diversion Council within the department. The council will create a method to help people with mental illness or substance abuse problems get treatment and stay out of the criminal justice system.

OCBA, LAD sponsoring help desk at Oakland County Courthouse

 The OCBA and LAD jointly sponsor the help desk, which is staffed by LAD and pro bono attorneys on Thursdays from noon to 2 p.m. in the lobby of the north entrance of the courthouse, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac.
