Foley launches Legal Innovation Hub for NextGen Manufacturers

Foley & Lardner LLP has launched the legal industry’s first-ever Legal Innovation Hub for NextGen Manufacturers to serve the unique needs of manufacturers navigating the accelerating convergence of technology and manufacturing.
The Foley Legal Innovation Hub is the most comprehensive look at an industry the firm has ever undertaken. This  dedicated firm-wide network of departments, industry teams and practice groups will help manufacturing clients engage in dialogues and tackle the transformational issues associated with next-generation manufacturing. The firm intends to utilize think tanks, social media platforms, blogs and roundtable discussions through which Foley clients can quickly access legal and business insights relevant to their industry.
“Foley has been serving U.S. manufacturers for over 170 years. More than a third of our top 1,000 clients are in the manufacturing sector, and this is an industry we are proud to know well. We intend to be at the forefront of this new, exciting and highly dynamic industry, working with our manufacturing clients to help them achieve their strategic business goals,” said Foley Chairman and CEO Jay Rothman.
Foley also expects to partner with consulting firms, academia, government and industry associations where appropriate, and plans to develop a Client Advisory Board comprised of some key manufacturing clients to ensure the firm provides consistent forward-thinking insight and innovative solutions customized specifically to this next generation of manufacturers.
The Foley Legal Innovation Hub addresses key next-generation manufacturing strategies of customer-focused innovation, continuous process improvement, sustainability, supply chain management, global engagement, and human capital management. It also focuses on other business strategies critical to domestic manufacturers, such as reshoring of manufacturing operations back into the United States and information technology, including Big Data.
“The goal of our Legal Innovation Hub is to take into account the full range of business issues clients face that actually cross over a wide variety of functional and management areas,” said Rothman. “This launch shows how we are adapting and empowering our entire organization to more closely “match and mirror” our top clients’ business models and to provide them with the assistance they really need.”
"We believe this more holistic approach will serve our historic manufacturing client base well,” Rothman said. “After all, businesses don’t look at themselves in a vacuum and neither should we.”
