Journal names Bodman named 2014 Michigan Firm of the Year

The internationally recognized client and peer-review journal Benchmark Litigation has named Bodman PLC its 2014 Michigan Law Firm of the Year.

The selection was announced at a national award ceremony held on January 30 at the Essex House in New York.
State winners are chosen based on an analysis of case matters held during the prior year, including potential precedent set or verdicts with notably high dollar amounts at stake.
“This award is a well-deserved recognition for our Litigation Group, which had a fantastic year in 2013” said Bodman Chairman Ralph E. McDowell. “This is a true team win. The award is not based on a single high-profile case but on a track record of success over a broad range of matters for a variety of clients.”
Benchmark Litigation is the country’s only publication that focuses exclusively on law firm litigation departments. The editors rank firms based on an extensive research process. For the current (2014) edition, the research process was conducted between March and November 2013 and included interviews with thousands of lawyers and law firm clients. As a result of that process, Bodman was ranked as “highly recommended” for business litigation, the highest level possible, and eight Bodman attorneys were listed as “Litigation Stars” or “Future Stars.”
Bodman’s Litigation and Alternative Dispute Practice Group focuses on a wide variety of civil disputes ranging from simple breach of contract claims to antitrust, securities, professional liability, trade secret, and other complex matters
Bodman has more than 150 lawyers in four Michigan offices in Detroit, Troy, Ann Arbor, and Cheboygan, and an affiliate office in Dallas, Texas.

WBA to present program on human trafficking Feb. 11

The Wolverine Bar Association invites all attorneys and law students to attend its February General Body Membership Meeting featuring a special presentation: “Human Slavery and Trafficking: A Growing Epidemic.” The meeting will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m. at the law offices of Bodman LLP, Ford Field, 1901 St. Antoine Street, 5th Floor, in Detroit.

The United States serves as one of the top three destination points for this $32 billion-a-year global industry and the growth rate in the state of Michigan is alarming. This program is designed to educate attendees on the intricacies of this dangerous epidemic and the deep impact it has on our community.
The presenters include E. Christopher Johnson Jr., Detective Sergeant Edward Price, and Charlotte V. Henry.
