Mueller reappointed to Michigan Unarmed Combat Commission

Gov. Rick Snyder announced the reappointment of Wolfgang Mueller, of Northville, to the Michigan Unarmed Combat Commission as vice chairperson. 

Housed within the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the 11-member commission regulates professional boxing and mixed martial arts events. 
 
Mueller is an attorney with Olsman, Mueller, Wallace & MacKenzie, where he specializes in wrongful conviction and police misconduct cases as well as construction site litigation. Previously, he worked as an automotive engineer for Chrysler Corp. Mueller is a second-degree black belt in the Korean martial art of Tang Soo Do, and serves as an instructor at Boliard’s Martial Sciences Center in Canton. 

He received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University and the University of Michigan – Dearborn, respectively, and earned a degree from the Detroit College of Law. Mueller will continue to represent licensees in mixed martial arts. He currently resides in Northville. 

Appointees serve four-year terms, and their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
 

MSU Animal Law professor to present at WSU?Law Feb. 5

Wayne State University Law School will present “Exploring Our Ethical Duties Toward Wildlife” on Wednesday, Feb. 5, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in Room 2242 of the Law School Building, 471 W. Palmer.  Professor David Favre, Animal Law professor from Michigan State University, will present on ethical issues involving wildlife.

WBA to hold February membership meeting Feb. 11 at Bodman

The Wolverine Bar Association invites all attorneys and law students to attend its February General Body Membership Meeting featuring a special presentation: “Human Slavery and Trafficking: A Growing Epidemic.” The meeting will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m. at the law offices of Bodman LLP, Ford Field, 1901 St. Antoine Street, 5th Floor, in Detroit. Attendees should enter at Gate G or use the 2nd floor walkway from the Ford Field Garage. Parking will be validated.
