LAD presents annual awards

Legal Aid and Defender Association (LAD) held its fourth annual "Laddy" awards ceremony Nov. 19 in the historic Chief Judge's Courtroom at Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse.

"We're grateful to have the Laddy awards here again for the second year," said Judge Denise Page Hood of U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, representing Chief Judge Gerald E. Rosen. "This is a moment for pro bono attorneys to shine," Hood said, comparing the Laddys to the Oscar and Emmy awards of the motion picture and television industries.

"We're recognizing a special group of attorneys, said Lois E. Bingham, a member of LAD's board of directors, who welcomed award winners, sponsors and guests on behalf of LAD.
