Parks Title

Parks Title, a title and escrow services provider in Michigan and Illinois, is pleased to announce that Angela Veda, vice president of Potestivo & Associates PC, has accepted the role of Parks Title corporate attorney. Veda will continue in her role at Potestivo & Associates PC while also assisting Parks Title with document review, CFPB compliance, and high level title clearance issues.

Veda began her career with Potestivo & Associates PC in May 1998. With an education in Legal Studies and Business, she served as a paralegal for the firm, handling litigation collections on behalf of their clients. Soon after, she moved on to perform paralegal services for both the foreclosure and bankruptcy departments.

Veda earned her Bachelor of Science from Grand Valley State University, and also earned a Masters in Administration from Central Michigan University. She graduated from Thomas M. Cooley Law School while maintaining a full-time career with Potestivo & Associates PC.

As the demands of the department grew, Veda was promoted to the managing attorney for the Foreclosure Department. In August 2007 she accepted a transfer to the firm's REO department with the desire to grow the firm's REO business by improving cost efficiencies and implementing new processes. She currently serves as the firm's vice president and managing attorney.

Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP

Eric J. Sosenko, an attorney with more than 25 years of experience, has joined Honigman, Miller, Schwartz, and Cohn LLP as a partner in its Intellectual Property Department's Patent Practice Group. The firm's IP department, which serves clients locally, nationally and internationally, has grown rapidly over the past several years, adding 10 attorneys since January 2014.

Sosenko's practice focuses on patent and trademark procurement, product and mark clearance, and related transactions in a wide variety of technical fields, including mechanical, electro-mechanical, medical and material arts. He counsels clients on the strategic implementation and management of domestic and international intellectual property portfolios.

Sosenko is knowledgeable about U.S. and foreign patent and trademark law, including experience in international protection under multinational treaties. His clients include large domestic and foreign companies, as well as local start-ups and second-stage companies.

Sosenko has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America, Michigan Super Lawyers, DBusiness as a "Top Lawyer" and Managing Intellectual Property magazine as an "IP Star."

He earned a law degree from West Virginia University College of Law and received a B.S. in mechanical engineering from West Virginia University.

He joins Honigman from Brinks, Gilson, & Lione.

Butzel Long

Beth S. Gotthelf, attorney, shareholder and director of Innovation and External Relations at Butzel Long, was a co-chair of the Gleaners Women's Power Breakfast on Wednesday, April 22, at Gleaners' headquarters in Detroit.

"Metro Detroiters are generous with their time and talent to help Gleaners meet a growing need in southeast Michigan," said Gotthelf. "It is an honor for me to serve as co-chair of this year's Gleaners Women's Power Breakfast."

Gotthelf represents and counsels a diverse mix of clients. She also is chair of Butzel's Aerospace and Defense Industry Team and co-chair of the Energy and Sustainability Practice Team.

At the same time, she is an executive-in-residence with the Macomb-OU INCubator. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Better Business Bureau and has been appointed to its Executive Committee. Gotthelf is vice president of the Executive Council of the Michigan Israel Business Bridge.

She has been very active in bar associations, including in the State Bar of Michigan, Environmental Law Section, where she served as past chair. She is past vice chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law, Water Quality and Wetlands, and former vice chair of the Keystone Committee. She is past chair of the Environmental Law Committee of the Oakland County Bar Association and is a past member of the State Bar Representative Assembly on behalf of Oakland County.

She served on the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce Leadership Committee for Transportation, and is past chair of the Chamber's Task Force on Water and Sewer Issues. She is a Fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation.

Gotthelf is chair of the City of Birmingham Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. She is past co-chair of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Legislative Action Committee. Gotthelf was on the Federal Advisory Committee charged with recommending stormwater rules and served as a director of the Detroit Area Commercial Board of Realtors, which covers the State of Michigan. She serves as an arbitrator for the National Arbitration Forum.

Her charitable activities include serving as past president of the Board of Trustees for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Michigan Chapter; chair of the Board of Trustees of Oakland Plus Foundation; trustee of the Jewish Vocational Services; member of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, State Government Relations Oversight Committee; former member of the Board of Directors for the University Cancer Foundation; and, member of the Seymour Gill Financial Women's Advisory Board.

Gotthelf was selected as one of 20 influential leaders by Michigan Lawyers Weekly-Women in Law (2010). She was named in Michigan Super Lawyers (2006-12) and as one of the "Top 50 Female Michigan Super Lawyers" (2006 and 2008). Gotthelf is listed in DBusiness Top Lawyers in Metro Detroit, Environmental Law, 2011-2013; Energy Law, 2011-2012; Government Relations Law, 2011-2012.

She has received several awards and special recognitions, including as an emerging leader by the Detroit Regional Chamber (2003); the National Association of Metal Finishers (2002); Corp! Magazine as one of "Michigan's 95 Most Powerful Women" (2002); Corp! Magazine's "Top 10 Business Attorneys for Southeast Michigan" (1999); and Crain's Detroit Business' 40 Under 40 in1994.

Gotthelf is a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and Oakland University. In 2009, she received an Oakland University Distinguished Alumni Award.

In addition, Butzel Long attorney Rebecca S. Davies will present a seminar titled "Hiring and the Law 101" for the Restaurant Opportunities Center of Michigan (ROC-MI) on April 28.

Moreover, Davies will be a featured speaker during Walsh College's HR Summit on May 1. She will discuss recent court rulings and Department of Labor regulations. Davies is an adjunct faculty member at Walsh College.

Davies concentrates her practice primarily in the areas of employment law and commercial litigation. She represents employers in federal and state court litigation and before state and federal administrative agencies. She regularly counsels employers regarding compliance under federal and state employment laws (including FLSA, FMLA, ADA and Title VII), drafts policies and procedures, and advises on preventative strategies.

She is a frequent author and lecturer, not only for client in-house trainings and publications, but also outside organizations including the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, Automation Alley and American Society of Employers.

Davies earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan at Dearborn and law degrees from the Detroit College of Law in 1995 and Wayne State University Law School in 2010.

McKeen & Associates announces the return of Terry Dawes as counsel. Dawes joined McKeen & Associates after graduating in 1993 from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing

During his 19-year tenure at McKeen & Associates, Dawes distinguished himself in the representation of persons injured by health workers or through the administration of vaccines under the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. He will continue his practice as a litigation attorney in the areas of medical malpractice; wrongful death; birth trauma; and vaccine compensation claims.

Dawes is a member of the State Bar of Michigan; the Federal Bar Association; the Michigan Association for Justice; The American Association for Justice; and the United States Court of Federal Claims.

Dawes graduated from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He earned an associate degree in nursing from Kalamazoo Valley Community College and worked as a registered nurse while attending law school and during his undergraduate studies at Western Michigan University where he earned a bachelor's degree in education.
