ABA Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section to honor 3 with leadership awards

Attorney Timothy W. Bouch, of Charleston, S.C., Chicago Cook County Judge Timothy C. Evans and U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Guido Calabresi of New Haven, Conn., have been selected to receive awards from the American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section during the ABA Annual Meeting in Chicago July 31-Aug. 4. The recipients are being honored for their outstanding leadership qualities and service to the TIPS section as well for their commitment to advancing justice, scholarship and the legal profession. The awards are: Liberty Achievement Award: Cook County Circuit Court Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans will receive the award, which honors lawyers and judges who take a leadership role by demonstrating, through choices made in their careers and work done in private- or public-sector positions, that they have actively promoted diversity in the legal profession. The award, sponsored by Thomson Reuters, will be presented during the TIPS Welcome and Liberty Achievement Award Reception on Friday, July 31, at 6:30 p.m. at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 East Washington Street. James K. Carroll Leadership Award: Charleston attorney Timothy W. Bouch will receive the award, which honors members who have shown outstanding leadership qualities and service to the TIPS Section, on Saturday, Aug.1, during the James K. Carroll Leadership and Awards Dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the Metropolitan Club in the Willis Tower. Robert B. McKay Law Professor Award: U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Guido Calabresi will be presented with the award, which honors lawyers committed to advancing justice, scholarship and the legal profession, as demonstrated by their contributions to the fields of tort and insurance law, on Saturday, Aug, 1, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. at the Metropolitan Club in the Willis Tower. The ABA Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section unites plaintiff, defense, insurance and corporate counsel to advance the civil justice system. TIPS is a national source of expertise in tort, trial and insurance practice and brings lawyers together to share information and speak out on issues of importance. The section has almost 24,000 members and over 30 general committees that focus on substantive and procedural matters in areas across the broad spectrum of civil law and practice.
