Denise Page Hood is new chief federal judge

DETROIT (AP) — There's a changing of the guard at Detroit's federal court.

Denise Page Hood is the new chief federal judge in eastern Michigan, which includes courthouses in Ann Arbor, Flint, Port Huron and Bay City.

She was formally introduced Thursday at a ceremony at the Detroit courthouse. Hood takes over administrative duties from Gerald Rosen, who was the previous chief judge and played an important role in brokering deals between creditors and Detroit during the city's bankruptcy.

Hood still will maintain a caseload. She was a Wayne County judge before President Bill Clinton promoted her to the federal bench in 1994.
