Prestigious 2016 ‘Wings of Justice’ award presented to attorney Mark Brewer


Mark Brewer, attorney at Goodman Acker, P.C. recently received the 2016 “Wings of Justice” award by the Oakland County Democratic Party at the annual Phil Hart Dinner. Attorneys vying for this award are evaluated by the Justice Caucus Mission. The association is founded on democracy and its dedicated to promoting advanced democracy in the government, within the legal profession, and within the Democratic Party.

Brewer’s achievement displays his dedication to providing honest, fair, and just legal services inside and outside the office and courtroom. The award was given to Brewer in recognition of his legal work for Democrats over the last 30 years, particularly for his recent achievements on the ruling in favor of allowing Michigan residents to use the state’s long-standing straight-party voting option in the November election. Brewer handles every case with dedication, is steadfast in his values and represents the top-tier qualities that the Justice Caucus Mission seeks to grow within the legal profession.

Recently Brewer said, “I’m honored to be among so many fine attorneys who have received this Award in the past.” 

Brewer received his J.D. from Stanford University Law School and his A.B. with honors from Harvard College. He also served as the chair of the Michigan Democratic Party and served as MDP chair or executive chair until 2013, being the longest serving MDP chair.

 

Larson elected chair of Quest University Canada Board of Governors


Mary Jo Larson, a partner with the law firm Warner Norcross & Judd LLP, has been elected to serve as the chair of the Quest University Canada Board of Trustees.

Quest University Canada is Canada's first independent, not-for-profit, secular university focused on the liberal arts and sciences. 

Larson concentrates her practice in employee benefit. She is a fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel.

Larson has received numerous accolades for her legal work, including being named Best Lawyers in America’s Lawyer of the Year, Employee Benefits Law – Detroit and a DBusiness Top Lawyer in Employee Benefits Law. She has been named toMichigan Super Lawyers, Chambers USA America’s Leading Lawyers and to Leading Women in the Law by Michigan Lawyers Weekly. Under her leadership, Warner Norcross was recognized as Law Firm of the Year by PulteGroup.

Active in the community, Larson also serves on the board of Forgotten Harvest. She is a member of Inforum and a graduate of Leadership Detroit.
