The Association of Black Judges of Michigan (ABJM) hosted a meeting to hear about the Michigan Indigent Defense Commission (MIDC) on Monday, March 6, at the St. Regis Hotel in Detroit. Speaking at the meeting was MIDC Executive Director Jonathan Sacks (front row, second from left) and MIDC member Brandy Robinson (front row, second from right) of the Federal Defender Office. The Michigan Indigent Defense Commission is composed of fifteen members appointed by the governor. The MIDC meets multiple times throughout the year to create and implement standards for indigent defense delivery services. Among those attending the meeting to hear about the MIDC were (front row, l-r) Oakland County 46th District Court Judge Debra Nance, ABJM president; and Wayne County 36th District Court Judge Michael Wagner, ABJM vice president; (middle row) Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Craig Strong; Oakland County 50th District Court Chief Judge Cynthia Walker; Wayne County 36th District Court Judges Demetria Brue and Alicia A. Jones-Coleman; (back) Wayne County 36th District Court Judge Austin Garrett; Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Denise Langford Morris; Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Ulysses Boykin; and Wayne County Probate Court Judge David Braxton.
