Annual Mark Weiss and M. Jon Posner Day at Comerica Park

The 15th annual Mark Weiss and M. Jon Posner Day at Comerica Park is Friday, Aug. 18 as the Detroit Tigers take on the Los Angeles Dodgers. The picnic starts at 5:30 p.m. on Party Deck 2, and the game begins at 7:10 p.m. Tickets are $125; the actual cost for the picnic and ticket to the game is $52 and the remaining $73 will be a tax-deductible gift to the Mark Weiss and M. Jon Posner Memorial Scholarship Fund. A goal was set 14 years ago to provide scholarships for students and recent graduates who share the same dream as Weiss — a commitment to provide legal aid to the underserved in the community. To date, 44 scholarships have been awarded to Wayne Law students in his memory. Posner was Weiss’s best friend and law firm partner. Weiss passed away in 2003, and Posner in 2017. In honor of their enduring friendship and shared ideals, the scholarship is now known as the Mark Weiss and M. Jon Posner Memorial Endowed Scholarship. If you have any questions regarding your ticket purchase, call (313) 577-0300. Tickets will be mailed through Aug. 10. If a purchase is made the week of the game, tickets must be picked up from the Office of Special Events and Services at Wayne State University (in the AAB building at 5700 Cass Avenue, Suite 1800 in Detroit). If sending a payment by mail, send your check directly to Wayne State University Law School: Mark Weiss and M. Jon Posner Scholarship Fund, attention: Desirnai' Hicks at 471 West Palmer Street, Suite 3504, Detroit, MI 48202. Checks should be made payable to Wayne State University. For questions regarding contributions, contact Hicks at (313) 577-9763 or dhicks@wayne.edu.
